Affirming your way to a new you! Monday Motivator – 4 December 2017

“I look fabulous and I feel fabulous.”

Cherise Barrie (CFO Sovereign Insurance)

Hi Motivation Seekers, hope you have had a wonderful week and that the last 3 weeks of stress management worked for you.  Remember, I offer a free, first coaching session if you want to come along and talk to me about anything that you need some help with.  I started these Motivators to make a difference for you, that’s what drives me, I am passionate about making a difference to your life, your career, your business, and last, but never least, your family and relationships.  I am only a phone call or email away, so get in touch.

This week I wanted to talk about affirmations and how they can massively change your outlook on life and transform your beliefs about yourself and what you are capable of.  Our quote is from Cherise who spoke to us recently at the Financial Wellness for Women Seminar that I was involved in.  She shared her inspirational story with us all and this one thing she said really stayed with me, which is why I am sharing it.  This was a tip for us.  She told us that every day before she leaves the house, she looks at herself in the mirror and says “I look fabulous and I feel fabulous.”  That sets her up for her day, and off she goes doing the massive job that she does with Sovereign Insurance.

I was impressed with this for a couple of reasons.  One, it made me realise how I look in the mirror and just see all the things that could be better……I think most of us can probably relate to that.  I’m a pretty positive person until I look in the mirror and then the perfectionist, judgemental, critical Jann stares back at me.  Is that a great way to start off my day?  Am I going to be in a mindset that makes me feel like I can take on the world and go out there and have a fabulous day?  No, probably that’s the first negative thought in my day, and it isn’t setting me up to feel good about myself.

The other reason I was impressed with Cherise doing this is that it creates a new way of being in a quick and simple way.  It is affirmations on speed dial!  Love it.  I decided to give it a go this week and I discovered that it did indeed lighten my step, make me feel happier and more positive, like I could take on the world!  Further bonus was that I took more care about my appearance.  If I wanted to look in the mirror and say that, I wanted to give myself every opportunity to be able to believe it.  Taking more care, just takes a little bit of extra time, it’s definitely do-able and so worthwhile if it makes you feel good.  When you feel good, you act good and others respond to you in a more positive way too.  Try it out this week and see what a difference it can make.
