Making a Difference with Kindness

Just for today, I let go of worry

Hello lovely Motivation Seekers, how are you?  I hope you have had a good week and that the Motivator helped you work honestly all week, or even just for a day.  I really hope you found some inspiration to do that.

This week, we are on the final of the Reiki Principles – showing kindness to all living things.  As always, it is made do-able by saying you will just do it for today.  You don’t have to make it a big deal, you don’t have to say from now on I will always show kindness each and every day, all you have to do, is do it just for today.  The miraculous thing about that is that it starts to be a habit anyway when you do that.  Pretty good, isn’t it?

That’s really all it takes.  We are talking about making a difference by showing kindness to others.  When people talk about making a difference, they always think of doing something big and amazing.  Setting up a charity, getting a foundation underway for some worthy cause, raising lots of money for the disadvantaged.  These are all big and amazing things, but just as big and amazing are the little kindnesses that we can show to others on a daily basis.  That’s all we need to do, to make a difference.  None of us truly know how it is for others, we are all on a journey and some of us have had a much worse time than others.  You just don’t know what people have had to face and what they struggle with each day.

What if you were the one who made a difference, just by reaching out and showing some kindness? If one kind word could change someone’s day, isn’t it worth it to try?  How can you do it though?  You just start off with an intention of being kind.  Get yourself into kindness mode from the moment you open your eyes in the morning.  Notice things in others that you can acknowledge or compliment and say it.  We are so caught up in our own thoughts and problems, we frequently don’t notice the people around us, and especially how they may be feeling.

I mentioned a few weeks ago about the lady serving on the fish counter at my local supermarket and how she made my day, by being helpful, smiley, and telling me my top suited me.  What a legend!  We don’t expect that from people we come into contact with, but imagine how it would be if we all did that, every day to everyone.  It would be like the movie “Pay it Forward”, once people start treating others with kindness, it takes on a life of it’s own and becomes contagious.

Let’s do that this week.  Think consciously of being kind each day, go out there and spread loving kindness to everyone.  It will really make a difference to the recipient and to you.  Have a brilliant week.
