“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
C. S. Lewis
Hi motivation seekers, how did the “thinking big” go last week? Hope it went well for you. This post really follows on from that. It’s to help us get started on living the life we want.
If you are finding it hard to change things, you may be blaming others. You may be blaming things from your past, or you might even be blaming yourself for always doing the stuff that keeps you stuck and not getting to where you want to go.
The other thing that may be happening, is you make excuses. Now is not the right time….I’ll do it when the kids are older, when we have more money, when I’m in a less stressful job, when I have a more understanding partner.
Are any of these excuses valid? Aren’t you just making an excuse to do nothing and not change anything, because it’s become pretty comfortable just limping along in the same old same old?
Maybe, you have just told yourself that next year will be the year. In fact, the only perfect time to start is now. I love our quote, it gives us hope and makes us see that the past is gone, all we have now is the present and the present is an absolute gift to us. It is all we have, the future is uncertain, no-one knows what lies ahead. That’s not to say you can’t plan for how you want things to be or have a vision for your future. But the way to follow the plan and reach the vision is by being in the present moment.
What can help us live in the now?
I hate to tell you this, because it’s just too simple, but there are 3 things that will help:
Yes it’s a simple solution, but it can be hard to get started on it. We all lead busy lives, with busy minds that never seem to stop. The beauty of this is that it slows everything right down, so that you can live in the present. Notice that each sentence begins with “Practise”. That is the key to it, daily practise until it becomes a daily habit and before you know it, life is enriched because you are living in the present.
What are the benefits of living in the present?
The benefits are enormous, you become less stressed, more relaxed, more focused and productive. You notice nature more, you become grateful for your life and the people in it. You can connect more with others and manage relationships on a much deeper level. You also feel self acceptance at a very deep level. You become far more empathetic and compassionate. You may even find that you receive insights and your intuition becomes enhanced. This can all start happening with just a 10 minute meditational practise each day. Mind/body exercise such as Tai Chi or Yoga also assists with this new mindful state of living in the present.
It begins now, now is the time to start your new life. Begin the practise this week, there is no time like the present. Click here to get in touch if you want any help to get started. My first session is absolutely free.
