Opening Your Eyes to Opportunities

“Opportunity?  Often it comes in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.”

Crossing off problems, seeing opportunities through business coaching

Hello Motivation Seekers, how’s your week been?  Did you practise the attitude of gratitude and did it make a difference?  Hope so and hope that it made a difference for you.

Our attitude is probably the main thing that makes a difference to our lives.  Have a positive attitude and you have a positive life.  This is even more important when you go through adverse times.  Those times are always the most challenging, yet they can provide us with the biggest breakthroughs.

How to see opportunities in the midst of adversity though?  If we can do that, I think that’s what sets us apart.  How many people do you know who only ever see problems?  There are a lot of them, and even worse that’s contagious.  Be around those people and all you can see are problems too!  So here’s my first tip:

Surround yourself with positive people – positive people will uplift you.  They energise you.  You feel better being around them and they can help you see through the quagmire of problems that may have been dragging you down.

Practise being a positive person – become one of those people yourself.  You can train yourself to do this.  I was always a “glass half empty” person, but over the years I have discovered many ways to get out of that thinking.  I have mentioned some of those things before.  Practising affirmations, visualisations, meditating, living in the moment, not making big stories out of everything, just recognising that it is your brain making something out of nothing.  Once you become aware of that, you can actively re-train your brain to think in a way that will be positive and see opportunities rather than problems.

Recognise you are on a journey – what is happening to you is just part of the journey you are on.  When you can accept that it is all part of a plan, it’s just a journey you are on and the things that you find trying or difficult today, will be the things that make you grow as a person and may even open new doors for you.  We grow through discomfort rather than joy.  Those are the times that make you a better you.

Remember, it’s not what happens to you that matters, it’s how you react to what happens.  See problems all around you and that is all you will experience, start seeing opportunities and doors open in miraculous ways.

Have a brilliant week, seeing opportunities all over the place.
