Positive Thinking and Language

“If you keep saying things are going to be bad, you have a good chance of being a prophet.”

Isaac B Singer

Hi Motivation Seekers, how are you? Hope you have had an awesome week.  I got good feedback last week from “opening the doors of opportunity” blog, so I hope it made a difference for you.

Following on from that, this week,  I wanted to talk about the importance of positive thinking and use of positive language.  It seems too simple, and for most people, it’s a bit woo woo, you think positive thoughts and speak positive words and your life changes?  How can that be?

The diagram above is one that I use to explain to clients, how your thinking pattern works.  You start with a belief or thought or language, which feeds into the actions you take, which in turn feeds into the results you get from these actions, which loops back and reinforces, the original thoughts/beliefs.  This is how we create our reality.  So, it stands to reason if the thoughts/beliefs/language are limiting and negative, those are the results you’re going to get.  Changing those to positive, empowering thoughts/beliefs and language, can lead to positive and empowering results.

I was thinking about this in relation to our own family business.   This is a hospitality business and we have been surrounded by roadworks, complete with cones and orange fences and barriers for nearly two and a half years now.  Believe me, it’s been a challenge to be positive through this time.  Many would say, what is there to be positive about?

In fact, there is a lot to be positive about.  I realised that especially the other day when we were having a half yearly review, to analyse where we are at, and if we have achieved the goals we set at the start of the year, and to set the goals for the rest of the year.  Firstly, I was amazed at how much we had done and how much we had achieved.  It was good to look at this in a positive way and feel good about it.  That also helps us set the path for the rest of the year.  If we go into the rest of the year, with a “doom and gloom” and scarcity mindset, that’s what we will create.  That won’t be conducive to getting the customers to love us, or to get the team feeling motivated.  It is massively important that we stay positive in all this, that we can see where we are headed and believe that we will achieve what we have set out to achieve.  This can’t help but create a positive outcome as it will be based on taking positive actions that come from positive thoughts beliefs and language, as opposed to focusing on what’s wrong and taking action from negativity.

This is the “law of attraction” at work.  We create what it is we want, we put it out to the Universe and it becomes real.  That doesn’t mean that we sit back and wait for it.  We still need to take action, but if this is based on action taken from an expansive outlook, a positive and empowered view, what we want can’t help but happen.

Start this week in practising some positive thinking. There is always a lot to be positive about.  We just need to look for it, it is there and we just have to get into the habit of thinking this way.  It’s totally possible.  It can create life changing results for you if you let it.  Let’s go for it this week – eliminate the doom and gloom and see the positive all over the place.  Have a brilliant week.
