Reaching your potential – Monday Motivator 26 February 2018

“If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.”

Abraham Maslow

Hi Motivation Seekers, how are you?  Hope you had a brilliant week feeling grateful and that you started reaping all the benefits that go with that.

This week, our quote is from Abraham Maslow, famous for Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, see below. The highest we can reach is self actualisation, but Maslow’s theory was that this could only be reached once all our other needs were met.  In other words if we are wholly concerned with our physiological needs and our safety, we won’t be able to devote very much time to self actualisation. I have to apologise if this isn’t sounding particularly motivational at this point!  Trust me though, it will be.

The thing is, that reaching our true potential, aspiring to that ideal of self actualisation is the most motivational way we can live our lives.  As the quote says, unless we do that – aspire to be the best we can be, we won’t be as happy or as contented as we could be.

I’m not suggesting it’s a battle and you must tackle each day with ferocity to become the “very best”.  That’s the way of unhappiness too.  Especially, if we are comparing ourselves to others and trying to outdo them.

What I am suggesting is that we all know deep down what we are capable off.  We know when we are not giving  our best and we know when we are letting fear dictate our future.  If we know……what then can we do about it?

What I recommend first, is reviewing your Strengths and Weaknesses – doing a personal SWOT.  This is something that business owners do when trying to improve their businesses, but it is also an excellent thing to do for your own personal growth. This exercise takes you through the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats that you may be faced with and helps you discover areas that you can build on.  Click here to get started on your own Personal Swot and discover how to grow your potential and create a happier, more fulfilling life for yourself.

Have a brilliant week, and as always, get in touch with me click here if you want to make a time for a free, first session to start you on the road to reaching your potential.
