Think Big!

“Think little goals and expect little achievements.  Think big goals and win big success.”

David Joseph Schwartz

Hello Motivation Seekers, how’s your week been?  Hope it went well and I hope you got started on overcoming any little limiting beliefs that may be holding you back from reaching your potential.

Following on from this, maybe it’s time to start thinking big!  We won’t ever achieve big things unless we think big, yet so often we just don’t let ourselves dare to do this.  That’s what I want to motivate you about this week.  Daring to let yourself dream big, think big and attract big stuff to you.

For years, business coaches have talked about setting BHAG’s…..big, hairy audacious goals.  Have you ever tried that?  Have you thought about what you want, with no holds barred?  What you could achieve if there was no fear of failure, if you were guaranteed success, how would it look then?

When setting goals I always recommend that we use the SMART system, so that your goals are expressed as Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed.  Now, you might think that is the opposite of thinking big, saying they have to be achievable and realistic.  However, the really big, impossible, seemingly unachievable goal is still great to aim for.  Getting the balance right here is the key, it can’t be so unreachable that you could never achieve it, but has to be unreachable enough to stretch you and to give you something to really aim for.  Setting a big stretch goal will stretch you in the best possible way.  If your goals are small and hardly get you out of your comfort zone, they’re not going to make much difference to your business or your life.

So let yourself think big.  You don’t have to start by taking big actions, start with the big thinking first, then break it down into small do-able chunks that make it easier and less overwhelming.  Before you know it, you will have achieved the previously insurmountable, big, hairy audacious goal and you will be ready for the next big thing!

Have a brilliant week.  Let me know if you want some help in thinking big and getting some new exciting stuff going on for your business, career and life.
